Artist Description:
From an early age, Jacques Tange knew he wanted to become an artist. He briefly took a course at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam, but did not complete it. After this, he followed and completed a course at the Free Academy in The Hague. From the late 1980s, he has been inspired mainly by medieval book painting. Especially the bright colors and the use of perspective appeal to Tange, as does the "naive" way in which the stories are told. As in these stories, Jacques Tange likes to lead his audience astray. His images often have deeper meanings that do not reveal themselves immediately and not infrequently a relativizing wink. His works often have a psychological charge and are a reflection of our society. Recurring themes in Jacques Tange's work are the relationships between men and women, care for mother earth and each other. Inspiration is life and love in the broadest sense of the word. Jacques Tange's style is characterized by the clear use of color, with which a special world is sketched. With simple means and an almost naive painting style, the painter creates a recognizable image. Pastel drawings and oil paintings make up the bulk of his oeuvre. He also makes screen prints, often with more than 25 runs, in very limited editions. He also makes pottery, bags, furniture and publishes poems with illustrations of his own hand. Jacques Tange's work can be found in leading galleries and collections and he has been exhibiting with great regularity at home and abroad for decades. Since the early 1990s, his artworks have found their way into private and public collections. Jacques Tange was elected Promising Artist in 2003 and Artist of the Year in 2005.
Some scratches here and there on the moldings. Not disturbing.
