Frank Groothof is an actor and playwright. He acquired great fame with his roles in Sesame Street and Klokhuis. He also makes theater productions for children in which he introduces them to classical music and opera.
Frank Groothof studied at the conservatory, after which he started his career with the musical Godspell and with Het Werktheater. With his brother René he played Broertjes, from which a television series also appeared. The duo incorporated their own childhood experiences into these stories.
Frank Groothof in Sesamstraat and Het Klokhuis
Generations grew up with Frank on Sesame Street, where he first played a mischievous boy, and then changed his role to that of a friendly uncle. In Het Klokhuis, we could enjoy his adventures as Boy Zonderman.
Opera and classical for children
Groothof's love of opera and classical music has been incorporated into a number of performances in which he playfully introduces children to these genres. Works by Mozart, Bizet and Beethoven, among others, form the basis of these fascinating youth performances.
