Product description
Mr. Benoît Thierry Marcel Marie Ghislain van Innis (25-5-1960), is a Belgian visual artist and cartoonist. He signs his work with the name Benoit. He died last Feb. 24 after a debilitating illness.
Benoît, as his artist name was short, was the master of dry-comic images. His work appeared not only in Belgian newspapers such as De Morgen and De Standaard, but also in Vrij Nederland, Paris Match and The New Yorker - he was the first Belgian to be allowed to create a cover for that magazine, which is still considered one of the most prestigious commissions an illustrator can receive.
He became world famous - literally overnight, because of the terrorist attack on the Brussels metro station Maelbeek. Sixteen people were killed and dozens injured. Benoit's line drawings on the platforms, baked on white tiles, miraculously remained undamaged.
This poster was made for a 1994 exhibition in 's-Hertogenbosch Netherlands.
The poster has always been rolled and is in excellent condition.
