Product description
The John Lld bookcase is one of Philippe Starck's first designs. This 1977 design was put into production by Disform in 1982. I bought the cabinet in the late 1980s.
The basic structure of the furniture consists of two tubular metal uprights and thin metal rods that support five wooden shelves. The shelves vary in depth and are 20, 24, 30, 34 and 40 cm deep and 100 cm wide. The unit is easy to place against a wall. The cabinet is completely demountable.
This beautiful design strikes a perfect balance between form and function.
The wall rack is in good vintage condition. There are signs of use here and there in the form of light scratches, but they are not distracting. There is a crack in the plastic base of one of the uprights ( see photo).
There are light scratches here and there on the wooden boards. These are not disturbing. There is a crack in one of the plastic feet of the uprights; this is easily repairable.
