Dra 2 (2001) Peter Cox
Acrylic Canvas 120x150
Signed, lower right
For Peter Cox, painting is “A direct response based on considerations and impulses, regarding a landscape starting point”. It should be surprising and create space for him.
As young as he was, he soon stopped following the paths in the forest and made his own paths. It was exciting to suddenly find himself somewhere he had never been before, or soothing when he recognized where he was. Getting lost was already part of it then, even if only for a moment. The moments of not knowing where he was stimulated his senses and made him look at his surroundings differently.
He still seeks those experiences from then as a painter: the moment of being one with a landscape experience and depicting it in color and form.
As a motif he takes examples from the diversity of nature and the structure of landscape elements, which he provides with a personal atmosphere through color, signs and shapes in a certain rhythm.
The result is an inner landscape that tends towards abstraction, especially in his paintings. However, the origin of the data is always recognizable.
Peter Cox has been active as a visual artist for more than 25 years and has exhibited dozens of times at home and abroad, including at Artifort, the DSM-Art collection, as well as in Aachen, Berlin, Seville & Florence.
This cheerful and colorful canvas was originally purchased from the artist himself in Maastricht and is offered for sale in its undamaged original condition including wooden frame due to being overcomplete.
