Senneh carpets are made by the Kurds who live in and around the city of Sanandaj (formerly Senneh), the capital of the western Iranian province of Kurdistan. Although the name is now Sanandaj, the carpets made here still go by the historic name of Senneh. Senneh carpets are made from fine wool yarn spun very tightly in the pile, while the warp and weft are made from simpler cotton.
