The Peill + Putzler Patmos pendant lamp exists in many different shapes and sizes. Tableware was also made in this type of glass. The lamp is made of Matt Glass with clear dots.
This pendant lamp received an iF Design Award in 1971.
The Peill + Putzler Patmos pendant lamp was also sold by Raak Lichtarchitectuur, Netherlands. It is listed in catalog 6 from 1964. The American company Prescolite also sold the model.
About manufacturer Peill + Putzler
Glashüttenwerk Peill und Sohn was founded in 1903 in Düren, a small town in (West) Germany. Peill und Sohn merged in 1947 with Putzler (founded in 1869) as a glassblowing and lighting company and became Peill + Putzler Glashüttenwerke.
The company worked extensively with designers such as Wilhelm Wagenfeld, William Brown, Helmut Demary, Aloys Ferdinand Gangkofner, Horst Tüselmann and several others.
By the 1950s, the company employed 1,500 people. They also produced glass parts and complete lamps for other companies in Europe, such as Raak of the Netherlands, Massive of Belgium and many others.
