Saskia Kuulkers (1957) comes from Curacao, her work is recognizable by the bright and powerful colors she uses in her works (`Kuulkers blue`). She exhibits both at home and abroad. Her very first exhibition took place at Jan des Boevrie. After the fashion academy 'DE SCHANS' she attended the Rietveld Academy (1978-1982). She had her first exhibition at Jan Des Bouvrie. This was followed by dozens of exhibitions at various galleries in the Netherlands and abroad and well-known department stores (Bijenkorf, Metz&Co, and Habitat) and various Kunstuitleen at home and abroad. She carries the bright colors and light of Curacao with her. Her travels in South America are also an inspiration: the sun, the sea, the flowers and people. Her approach is direct and impulsive, what you see is what it is. She makes lavish paintings on canvas and paper in bright colours. But she is also excellent with textiles and other materials. The work is cheerful and sunny. The powerful colors leave an indelible impression on the retina of the viewer.
