Product description
Spectacular pair of temple vases filled with golden lotus flowers. This set is called "Jyôka" and is placed on or next to an altar in a Buddhist temple. Made with meticulous technique in brass, each one has eleven flowers. In Buddhism, the lotus is an important symbol of divine enlightenment because it blooms into beautiful flowers while growing in mud. Tsunehana means "a flower that continues to bloom forever" and "a flower that does not wither." For this reason, the flowers represented are in different stages of their life, unfolded lotus leaves, buds and full flowers, thus symbolizing the journey towards Buddhist enlightenment. Sealed at the bottom.
In Japanese culture, art has a great introspective sense and interrelation between man and nature, also represented in the objects that surround it, from the most ornate and emphatic to the simplest and most everyday. This is evident in the value given to imperfection, to the ephemeral nature of things, to the emotional meaning that the Japanese establish with their environment.
