Vintage 1950s. Materials: Ceramic. Pair of mid-century modern lamps by Cerart Monaco in bright orange, black and yellow. Cerart Monaco is the official supplier to the Prince of Monaco. A bold and beautiful example of Monegasque art pottery from the 1950s. The vases have a beautiful, intense tricolor glaze that will brighten up any space. The shapes and colors aim to revive joie de vivre. The ornaments are treated in high relief, to give the impression of having been simply placed. The pair is fitted with two round black shades that perfectly complement the colors of the lamps. A rare collectors' pair of glamorous pottery/ceramics as much for their shape, patterns and colors as for their excellent condition. They bear the original manufacturer's label, ""CERART"", affixed to the items. The Principality of Monaco has been renowned for its ceramists since 1893. But it was the post-war period, 1946 to be precise, that marked the birth of Cérart. While most of the pieces are decorated with floral or marine motifs, some of the somewhat rarer abstract motifs, such as on our pair of lamps, are highly sought-after by collectors.
