Rare and superb pair of massive, imposing, vintage 40's-50's wrought-iron candlesticks, magnificent, 4-light, cupped with candle picks. Bases composed of 4 arched feet, square rod bodies decorated with 4 curved flat rods, topped by 4 inwardly curved flat rods, each holding a slightly hollow round cup with a spike in its center. Very fine craftsmanship, unsigned, dark steel-colored silver-plated metal with a patina of age. Very solid objects in a brutalist or medieval style. High-quality, highly decorative pieces, very unusual. Imposing with their total height of 31cm and maximum diameter of 33.5cm. They are in very good condition for their age, but nevertheless show a few flaws, notably some traces of oxidation, on the feet and cups, which are quite discreet, and on one cup, which is quite visible but harmonious, in their original juices. The spikes show discreet scratches. The dishes are more or less wobbly (except for 3), and one can be removed, so repairs may be necessary. Approx. 4-5kg each.
