Magnificent pair of large ormolu candlesticks, early 19th century, French. Solid lion-pasta tripod bases, 3-sided, decorated respectively with a relief of the Virgin's face, a sacred heart and a triangle with Hebrew inscriptions. Large fluted shafts, decorated with rings and reliefs, attractive sockets with large fluted cups. 50cm total height, approx. 14cm max. width, 11cm diameter cups, 4-5cm diameter candle base. Very fine overall condition, a few scratches, small dents, some oxidation notably in the hollows of the reliefs on the feet and decoration. Bright gold-plated metal, very clean overall. Tips absent, screws only. Approx. 1,200kg-1,500kg each.
