Pair of Louis XVI chairs in the Napoleon III style from the Art Nouveau period. They are in black lacquered wood, with openwork backs featuring gilded fluted balusters with a worked top band, and rings at the top of the side ends with a knob at the end. Resting on 4 slender legs, those at the back are saber-shaped, and those at the front are tapered with rings, fluted and gilded as well, the seat is in red cotton. Don't look for perfection....these chairs have been refurbished, but show signs of wear and subsequent pests (treatment done) as they date from the 20s or so, that said, the overall condition remains good. Absolute charm with these 2 chairs, they can be used together or on their own in the living room or bedroom, bringing serenity and style with a lovely vintage touch.
