On his arrival in France in 1913, he met Pablo Picasso. He soon joined the Paris School, where he became one of the stars alongside his Montparnasse neighbors and friends Modigliani, Pascin, Kisling, Derain, Soutine, Vlaminck, Léger, Gris and Matisse. After three solo exhibitions, Foujita was soon a household name, exhibiting at all the major art fairs in Paris, Brussels, London, Germany, the United States and Japan.
