Product description
Ardebil carpets are knotted in the city of Ardebil in the province of Ardebil in northwestern Iran, about 70 km from the Caspian Sea. Ardebil rugs draw their inspiration mainly from regions of Azerbaijan and the Caucasus, and beautiful rugs with geometric, nomadic-inspired patterns are often found, as well as rugs with Herati patterns and a central medallion. These carpets are very similar to Tabriz carpets from neighboring Tabriz, the capital of the East Azerbaijani province. Ardebil rugs are made of high-quality wool with a cotton warp and are rather thin but very durable. This makes them ideal for use under a dining table, but also as runners in hallways and entrances. Nowadays, runners make up a large proportion of production.
