Product description
Ziegler carpets were first produced in the late 19th century by the renowned Swiss trading family Ziegler. Due to the political unrest of the Persian Empire and the strong demand for carpets from the West, Ziegler decided to set up its own production in Sultanabad, Pakistan, hiring some of the best carpet weavers to meet this growing demand. With the western market in mind, the first original carpet designs were successfully put into production in 1883. The rugs draw their inspiration from the classic Persian rug design from the Arak district of modern-day Iran. Ziegler rugs are extremely affordable and a great way to add a touch of sophisticated elegance to your home. The wool used is of high quality and the color palette of natural vegetable dyes is softer and more subtle than that of Persian rugs. Ziegler rugs are stonewashed to give them a natural sheen and a beautiful antique look. The shorter pile makes it easy to keep the rug clean and is very suitable for use under a dining table as food and crumbs cannot get caught in the pile. Ziegler rugs are easily recognized by their characteristic open field, which does not have a central medallion but rather a rather thick, sparsely decorated panel. The rugs were traditionally made with a light beige/cream background, but are available in a variety of color combinations of ivory, cream, red, black or blue that perfectly complement the modern interior design style of western homes.
