Olaf Stevens (1954-) White vase decorated with yellow bows. Execution glass factory Leerdam. 50 of this vase were made. The height is 24 cm. Period ca.1990. In good condition. Olaf Stevens studied plastic design from 1975-80 at the Royal Academy of Art and Design in Den Bosch and from 1980-83 ceramic design at the Academy of Fine Arts St. Joost in Breda. Since 1990, Olaf Stevens has been a teacher at the Design Academy Eindhoven. As a natural follow-up to and in line with the design of his ceramic oeuvre, Olaf Stevens began to work more and more with glass from 1991 onwards. Olaf Stevens' first unique pieces were made by Royal Leerdam Crystal, to which he was associated until 1999 as a designer of industrial glass. In 1994 Olaf Stevens was responsible for the annual object of the National Glass Museum Leerdam. His free work consists of simply designed dishes, bowls and other container shapes that are decorated with anecdotal motifs such as pictograms, fish, birds and airplanes. Stevens uses the Grail technique for these decorations. Olaf Stevens' designs were not only made at Royal Leerdam crystal, but also at the Kosta Boda glass factory (Sweden).
