Artist Pier Arjen de Groot (1905-1995) Painter, Sculptor, Graphic Designer is famous for his Sculpture. He was the one who made the statue " Vrouwtje van Stavoren" in Stavoren. (See photo)
He exhibited at the first Sonsbeek exhibition (1949), the exhibition 'Sculptors exhibiting' of the Dutch Circle of Sculptors in Museum Fodor (1949) and the exhibition 'Dutch Sculpture' in the Hague municipal museum (1951). In 1950 In 1950 the well known journalist Cornelis Veth visited his studio at the Vissershaven in Scheveningen, Veth had been made aware of the sculptures by friends and was surprised by their quality. He wrote about the sculptures: "The impression one receives - and understandably especially from the two nude figures - is that of a conscientious and fastidious striving for perfection in form, proportions and posture.
