Product description
A set of 4 extraodinary lounge chairs, model No. 416, designed by Wim Rietveld and André Cordemeyer for Gispen in 1957. These were the first Dutch armchairs crafted using a single molded polyester shell, an innovative technique at the time. The sculpturally shaped light grey/beige seats rest on a tubular metal frame with rubber shock mounts, combining durability and comfort. These chairs are in completely original condition, an uncommon find—especially as a set of 4. Fully original condition with an authentic patina. The shells display some cracks, discoloration, and general wear consistent with age and use, while retaining their overall beauty and character LITERATURE Barbara Laan and André Koch, collectie Gispen, meubels, lampen en archivalia in het NAi, 1916-1980, Rotterdam, 1996, p. 51, with an illustration of a similar chair.
