Product description
Gray glazed earthenware vase (red clay) with relief decoration of deer Height: 19 cm. Ø: 20 cm. In fine condition. Provenance: the Netherlands (Utrecht), 1960s. Material: ceramic. Mobach The company was founded in 1895 in Utrecht as the Utrechtsche Pottenfabriek by Klaas Jaan Mobach, descended from a Frisian family of potters. Several generations subsequently continued it. The process of making ceramics has remained virtually the same throughout history. Here, the pottery is turned in small series or as one-offs or built up manually from rolls or sheets of clay, then glazed. The man-sized planters and vases in particular are well-known Mobach ceramic products. Piet Klaarhamer and Gerrit Rietveld designed a number of vases.
