Mid Century Retro Vintage Teak Sideboard
A compact teak side board from the Librenza series by G-Plan from the late 1950s and early 1960s. The mid-1950s saw a change of pace and a longing for the glamorous sophistication of Italy, the country that inspired hip café-bar culture, cool fashion for men and women and luxurious interiors. E. Gomme always tried to stay ahead and produced a new series of sleek and innovative furniture in darker wood on blackened legs. The Tola and Black series consisted of elegant tables and chairs on curved bases with black legs with copper tips. Cabinets had matching domed brass handles. Perfect for modern apartment living, the 'contemporary' style had come of age. G Plan sideboard in original, tola wood (West African teak) finish, with copper handles and tapered legs with brass caps. Two generous side cabinets with sliding doors and adjustable internal shelves provide ample storage space, in addition to three central drawers, the top of which has a sheet lining and cutlery dividers. Manufactured in High Wycombe in the 1960s, using premium materials and a design influenced by Scandinavian and Italian styles.
