Melitta 20 piece breakfast set '60-'70 perfect condition! Read a little more about the fascinating genesis of the Melitta company here. Amalie Auguste Melitta Liebscher was born in Germany in 1873, she was a housewife and in 1908 invented the coffee filter still used today for which she applied for a patent. Together with her husband Hugo, she founded the company "Firma M. Bentz," with a starting capital of only 73 pfences. Melitta began producing dinnerware in 1953. In that year, the company founded a factory called Friesland in Varel for the production of porcelain coffee filter holders and white tableware. This factory remained active until 1991. During the 1960s and 1970s, Melitta was best known for its porcelain tableware, especially the "Ceracron." This was a special type of porcelain that was very durable and heat-resistant. The company, now known as Melitta, continues to exist to this day and is still an important name in the world of coffee. Melitta Bentz died on June 29, 1950, but her influence lives on through the millions of people who enjoy her invention every day. This 20-piece service in a deep, rich chocolate color with matte finish is a beautiful combination of sleek and minimalist aesthetics as well as function. The cups all have unique markings in the glaze and are in absolutely immaculate condition! This service includes a coffee pot with unique lid, milk jug, 6 bags of underplates and 6 dessert/breakfast plates.
