Product description
Very nice and large color offset by Max Ernst after the 1923 original.
Sheet size 80 x 60 cm in new condition.
Ernst came into the world in 1891 in Brühl, a suburb of Cologne. He began studying philosophy, art history and psychology at the University in Bonn in 1910, but he soon dropped out to focus his attention entirely on art. In 1912, he had his first exhibition. In 1914, he traveled to the Montparnasse district of Paris where artists from all over the world gathered. There he met Guillaume Apollinaire, Robert Delaunay and Hans Arp. When World War I broke out later that year, Ernst had to join the German army. In 1918, he married the art historian Luise Straus.
