An original work, drawn with ink on a perspex plate by Maria Westra. The drawing is on both sides of the perspex plate. The perspex plate is framed behind glass in a matte white metal frame. The work looks like a transparent fabric. The warp or warp of the fabric is drawn on one side. On the other side the weft. Signed and dated. 1987. Certificate of authenticity is included.
Maria Westra graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in monumental textiles and weaving with the textile prize. She started as a designer of woven fabrics at De Ploeg (Bergeyk in Brabant) of furniture and curtain fabrics, she later translated the technique of weaving into other materials such as perspex and paper. She recently made a perspex cube for the Eye Hospital in Rotterdam. She has carried out assignments for, among others, the Government Buildings Agency, the Municipality of Amsterdam for the Stopera, Kraaijvanger Architects, Allianz, and children's portraits for Hestia Kinderopvang. Acquisitions by the State, the Municipality of Amsterdam, the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam 6 works, the DEV (Department of Aesthetic Design) of the (then) PTT, the VU hospital, the Sint Franciscus Gast Hospital, artoteken, private individuals. She also likes to draw and paint.
