Product description
Inspired by the Dutch De Stijl movement and Soviet Constructivism, Marcel Breuer created a radically avant-garde design in 1925 with the B3. From then on, the Wassily Chair was a prime example of New Living and is now an icon of modernism. Breuer, then head of the furniture workshop at the Bauhaus in Dessau, emigrated to the USA in 1933 due to his Jewish origins. There, together with Walter Gropius, he founded the architecture faculty at Harvard University and became one of the world's most renowned architects of his generation. Frame made of chrome-plated tubular steel and upholstered in genuine leather. Marcel Breuer signature on the backrest. Excellent condition. Two copies available.
