Johan-Louis Hueber (Heerlen, 10 oktober 1987) known professionally as LOVE, is an Dutch artist and designer. Making contemporary impressionism, abstract-expressionism and pop-art and designed/ manufactured his own frames.
All of his styles are intertwined because of the fact that the other could not excist without the other. It all started with the inspiration at a skateshop in lisboa in the early 2010's. LOVE saw an artwork from a (street) artist at the local skateshop with a lot of black (out)lines, in his younger days he skated a lot what explained the visit. The diversity of brands in skateboarding started the intrest in branding and graphic design. The first idea for his identity as an artist was sparked and soon he started to experiment with the idea of using techniques from old masters like jackson pollack and willem de kooning to transform it to the new age with the lines used in the pop-art and street art movement. While experimenting with pictures he find out that the blank canvas syndrome were never an issue if you start with out it. Using thise element for the Express series was key to the image he wanted to create.
After a while the black outlines were taking to another level and even the smallest detail were outlined this transformed in the idea of outlining pictures which later became the Impress series. Inspired by painters like Vincent van gogh he went on a journey in his region (the south of the Netherlands) to observe nature and use this for his paintings, trees birds landscaped were transformed into graphic designs with the use of his dip pen and ink and later fully painted. Hundreds pieces/drawings and at least 10.000 hours were neccesary to perfect the technique.
For the Pop series he developed a technique were his characters emerged out of a secret formula. All of his characters are his own creations while others are reworked versions of existing icons but never reconasible.
