Product description
Ceramic vase by Louis Waem (1921-?), mid-20th century. The Mastery of Nimy (1943-1950) was a movement composed of eight artists of which Georges Destrebecq was a member, as well as Fernande Massart, Louis Waem, René Lemaigre, Pierre Valuta, André Hupet, Irène Zacq and Geneviève Noe. Pioneers in the desire to put ceramics on the rankings of art, and the rise of the unique piece, in response to industrialization. This vase is decorated with unique designs based on a variation on the same theme in terms of technique and background shape. An examination of the material, form and pioneering decor of the 1950s. Model height 33 cm. Decorations sometimes made by a composition of different scroll friezes of sgraffito (sunken hollow in the mass) and sometimes by enamel applied with a brush. Enamel in earth colors, red tones and gold accents. Ceramics of red clay. Good overall condition, see photos. Very few chipping, one of the two commas on the blank has been repaired. Signed on the heel. Diameter 15 cm and height 33 cm.
