Product description
Louis Kalff (1897-1976) designed this lamp in the 1950s for Philips with the model name 'Bijou' which means 'jewel' in French. The design is timeless which still gives this lamp a modern look. The shade is made of aluminum and is painted matte green. The inside has a light color to increase the reflection of the light. Lamp has been cleaned, checked and is therefore in excellent, working condition, albeit with signs of use
Louis Kalff is also the designer is of the worldwide famous Philips logo as we still know it. In addition to being an industrial designer, Louis Kalff was also successful as an architect.
The offered lamp is the original version of this model which is different from the later version. This is recognizable by the base which is made of solid brass instead of lacquered metal as in the later versions. The shade and lamp holder also differ in design from the later versions.
