Product description
Lida was born in Amsterdam and grew up in the Jordaan, a typical Amsterdam neighborhood in the center.
From a very young age, Lida was impressed by the city she lived in, and
especially the old canals and their crooked houses. She sees them as bookshelves. Old books on a shelf and each book spine (canal house) has its own history and story.
After studying at the Academy of Visual Arts in Amsterdam, Lida developed as a fine painter. For years she painted Amsterdam in a very
realistic way.
After many years of painting and teaching her skills to a younger generation, something tragic happened in her personal life. After this tragedy, she could no longer pick up her brush.
For years, Lida felt blocked from performing her talent. Only after being persuaded by people around her did she pick up her brush again and start painting again. Slowly she began to find new inspiration and pleasure in painting, but now in a different, loose and cheerful style. The result of this 'therapy' are colorful and cheerful cityscapes of Amsterdam.
Today, this older lady has a clear view of the world, a joy that we also find in her paintings.
All paintings have the same subjects, such as 'books on a shelf', all with different stories. All her works are unique and slightly different in composition, color and size.
Lida would like to share her new happiness with the world by painting the city that has always stolen her heart: Amster
