RARE AND VERY BIG DESIGN DINING TABLE SET FROM LEOLUX SPECIAL because this is a rare dining table set, released by Leolux in 1992. The ID number of the chairs (source: Leolux) refers to an order from fa. Hoefsloot from August 1992. Hoefsloot originally offered the set for fl.13,000. The set was bought by me on January 20, 1994 in Nijmegen. The ID stickers are still present. By the way, the set was in conditioned, smoke-free storage for a long time. RARE and scarce. I have not yet come across a second set. According to Leolux, the set was only part of the collection for a short time. Perhaps because the manufacture of especially the conical chrome legs of table and chairs is very cost intensive. Also SPECIAL, chrome, wood and leather are in excellent quality, say almost showroom condition. The pictures speak for themselves. The leather has virtually no signs of use except for a few spots where a cat has used its nails. A close up picture is attached. By the way, the seats are very comfortable. Also SPECIAL, the design! Space age? Futuristic? Jetsons? Sputnik? In any case, fitting any interior. The design is by Axel Enthoven (Antwerp, Aug. 16, 1947). Belgian designer of numerous objects. He is known to the general public through his participation as a member of the jury of the program De Bedenkers op één of VRT. He made several designs for Leolux. He is known for furniture with a long lifespan. Enthoven wrote about the table: "the interplay of lines of the round table 'Arcadia' connects the present with the past and the new with the future. In Arcadia, mature craftsmanship and progressive design combine perfectly'. About the 'Giotto' chair, Enthoven wrote: 'I choose an idiosyncratic future idea without reverting to nostalgic elements. Spontaneous appearance with a magical power that says something about the possibilities of technology and craftsmanship. The base combined with high-level leather processing caresses the eye. The ergonomically balanced shape envelops you comfortably for contemporary enjoyment'. According to the Leolux brochure, the design received an honorable mention in the context of the Best Dutch Furniture Design by the Jaarbeurs Utrecht.
