The designer of the vase is Willem Jacob Rozendaal. The vase is marked with Maastricht and is 21 cm high. Condition: Cool and bright. Blown into shape with ribs Colour: craquelure and irisé fumi Signed with diamond pen: Maastricht Age:1931 Presumably model N. See attached photo (Source: Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands, Amersfoort / Document number GLA002042132) The Kristalunie Maastricht was created in 1925 by the merger of two glass factories, De Sphinx of Petrus Regout and Stella of Mosa. The glass factory became the competitor of Glasfabriek Leerdam and, like Leerdam , hired well-known designers, including the architect Eduard Cuypers and designers such as Jan Eisenloeffel, Piet Black, Willem Jacob Rozendaal and Max Verboeket. The latter two designers were responsible for hundreds of designs for Kristalunie Maastricht. Willem Jacob Rozendaal worked for the factory from 1928 and continued to design glassware for them after he left Kristalunie in 1937. Max Verboeket became chief designer in 1954 and retired in 1972 when the Kristalunie merged with glass factory Leerdam. The factory made glass services, decorative glassware and occasional glassware. Well-known glassware from Kristalunie Maastricht is the Tomato series, the Manuvaria vases, the orange-apple vase that was released in 1938 in honor of the birth of Princess Beatrix, the carnival glasses and the beautiful decanters by Jan Eisenloeffel.
