Beautiful pottery lidded vase with three incised decoration birdmen by Klaas de Boer.
Bought by my late uncle at an auction in 1974. Initials KB74 at the bottom.
Height is 17cm.
Width is 12cm.
In excellent condition with minimal age marks.
Klaas de Boer was educated at the art academy in Amsterdam. Much of his inspiration came from distant travels, where ancient civilizations and techniques contributed to his insights. The retrospective exhibition "a life with clay" shows a development from tranquil Egyptian forms through Zen Buddhist raku techniques to figurative Japanese images.
