He is the creator of the One Dollar sculpture and the trophy of the 43rd edition of the Deauville American Cinema Festival. Karl Lagasse's career began in 1996 with the sale of his first work in Antwerp, when he was 15 years old. A few years later, in 2003, he prepared his first exhibition in Paris, where he exhibited his works combining collage and painting, as suggested to him by Yvaral Vasarely, son of Hungarian visual artist Victor Vasarely, when they met in 1998. He began sculpting in 2004 and found inspiration by watching Les Nuits Blanches. He then began to find his own style and began the series "Buildings," "totem" works composed of different materials. In the same year, he left Paris to settle in Normandy. In 2006, Isy Brachot (famous Brussels gallery) dedicated an exhibition to him. One painting did not find a buyer. Karl Lagasse then offered it to an amateur who could not obtain it. In 2008, he returned to Paris to exhibit at the Espace Pierre Cardin. It presents paintings, sculptures and photographs. A film about the creation of the works is also shown there. 2009, the year of creation of one of the artist's most emblematic works, the One Dollar. A work that stems from his admiration for the United States, but also symbolizes all that is possible with one dollar; "Making art with $1." In 2010, he was chosen to represent the city of Deauville (Normandy) at the World Equestrian Championship "Horsemania", which took place in Lexington (United States), a city linked to the seaside resort of Normandy, for which he created a sculpture. After the "One Dollar," whose success is international, he presents another work that will also become emblematic, the "Cryptogram One." It is at the Art Monaco fair in 2011 that the public discovers it. To celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Cannes Film Festival in 2012, in collaboration with Corbis, he created a "building" 2.80 m by 60 cm wide out of cement, wood, glass and photographs and exhibited it at the Carlton Cinema Club. Artists present at the festival are invited to sign the work and leave a message. This is what especially José Garcia, Michel Hazanvisius, Bérénice Bejo, Gad Elmaleh, as well as Cuba Gooding Jr., Tim Roth, Matthew McConaughey and Zac Efron do.
