Product description
Hardwood sculpture, namely the beautiful Iroko wood from RDC (Congo).
Natural wax (waxed - 4 times).
Probably the largest solid hardwood 'elephant' in the Benelux...
Image made in 2009 and only now being finished.
(required a lot of work)
Height: 90 cm - length: 100 cm - width: 60 cm
For nature lovers.
(tusks are also made of wood)
I consider myself a self-taught artist.
Notwithstanding (and with the greatest respect) my uncle during my youth ('70s)
partly instilled in me the passion for wood sculpting.
The unique diptych of years of collaboration followed at the end of the last century
between the Congolese artist Mbungu (RDC) and myself as a non-professional
sculptor.
The unfinished, rough, rough wood shapes were dried here after a minimum of 10 years
further finished by me.
All statues are chiseled and sanded by hand. Not obvious because all of them
they are made of hardwood, namely Wengé or Iroko.
Two very hard, bone-hard tropical woods.
After hours, days, weeks and sometimes months of work, the satisfaction follows: a great one
unmatchable patina.
The statue can only be delivered via Whoppah transport (too heavy to pack)
