Product description
Image: The Robot The Hague consists of all loose photographs of well-known buildings in The Hague that have been brought together to form a "personality." Several years ago he created a special series of cityscapes under the title Robots. Photographs of world cities such as New York, Paris, London, Amsterdam and Rotterdam were composed by him into a new, special entity. The result: a fearsome, science fiction-like figure that literally overwhelms the viewer. You stand rooted to the ground, wondering, what is going on here? Leih has recreated the city into a monumental, mechanical giant. Shocking and frightening at first, but on closer inspection engaging and endearing. What immediately stands out is the monumentality of the work: its size ( 80 * 120 ) and the fact that it involves buildings. You can photograph a visit to a city and then make a traditional photo album out of it, or you tackle it the way Leih does. Architecturally interesting buildings, some of which are immediately recognized, have been used to evoke another image: a robot or a transformer. In the constituent parts, you immediately recognize some familiar buildings. A city put down as a mechanism in the form of a quest. Work is signed and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
