'The Girl with the Pearl Earring' Dim: 16 x 27 cm Hand-signed:Yes, back Technique:Ceramic Note: Glass bell jar is not offered, photo shows how object can be displayed. Stylish object with lace motifs palpable as relief on the surface The Delft painter Johannes Vermeer painted the Girl with a Pearl Earring circa 1665-1667. A beautiful iconic painting admired by many art lovers. But also a painting that inspires many artists around the world. In April of 2018, the Vermeer Center organized the exhibition: The Girl Inspires. Artists could submit a work of art inspired by the Girl with a Pearl Earring. Twenty-two works were selected and were on display at the Vermeer Center for a month, including this beautiful object by Jolanda Nabben! About the artist: Jolanda studied at the Artez Art Academy in Arnhem. Jolanda is inspired by everything around her, her surroundings, people, art, poetry, fashion and nature. Often her own feelings and experiences of the moment of modeling are later reflected in her work. For example, many female figures with a fat belly were created during her pregnancies and the work "Keeping All Balls High" during the recovery from her burnout. Her state of mind can also be unconsciously recognized in the body positions of the ceramic sculptures. The faces and arms are stylized to balance with the lavish dresses and hairstyles or hats. Lace motifs are found in almost all of her works; palpable as relief on the surface. The colorful glaze completes the work in which the "skin" remains as pure clay. Jolanda's work is graceful and at the same time powerful!
