Social Realism sculpture by Jenő Hanzély Tough miner with pneumatic drill rolling up his sleeve. Beautiful white porcelain statue from the Herend Porcelain Factory which is one of the best porcelain factories in the world. The designer of the sculpture is Jenő Hanzély who made it around 1950 -1960 Jenő Hanzély (1919, 2000). Sculptor. Between 1935-39 he was at the Hungarian Academy of Applied Arts, where his teachers were Béla Ohmann, Elek Lux and Endre Domanovszky. 1970: SZOT Prize: 1979: Gold Medal of the County of Veszprém. In the summers he worked in the Százados Street Art Colony, with György Nemes and Zsigmond Kisfaludi Strobl. In 1938 he also attended the drawing school of Vilmos Aba Novák. In 1940 he was appointed designer of Herend. From 1961 to 1979 he was artistic director of the porcelain factory. 1958: World's Fair, Brussels, Certificate of Appreciation; 1979: Order of Merit of the People's Republic. Height 35 cm Base: 11.5 x 9 cm 915 grams Beautiful condition ! No cracks or breaks, not repaired.
Except for some stains at the bottom of the base, which you don't see when statue stands in very good condition
