Product description
An old tradite, as in most East Brabant villages. House fleece weavers. The loom at the window. Working in the fields and working for the weaver teutes. The itinerant merchants, selling the linen. And at nightfall, mother, grandmother and the children spun the yarn, with which father wielded the loom by the oil lamp until late. They brought a strong product from flax grown on sandy soil. Nistelrode experienced its highest prosperity shortly after 1850. Later, industrial scaling up took place. First to small weaving mills in Gemert. Then the big boys arise in Helmond. The Vlisco. The beginning of the old weavers' song, recorded by Toon van Duren, reads, "Weavers let the laaij sound and the shuttle with a sway." Jean and Marianne Bremers of Helvoirt portrayed a Weaver in bronze, laden with rolls of linen on the shoulder.
