JLB
Dottignies, Belgium
Product description
JLB works mostly with wrought iron sometimes combined with glass. But here he chose a colorful scene encased in a wrought iron border that nevertheless conceals a deeper message, that of the separation between 2 worlds.
The 2 cm thick glass (albertini) was mass colored with natural oxides. The hand-cut blocks were glued together with black silicone. The wrought iron rim was coated which provided the brown-black sheen.
Unique signed work from 2024
Dimensions : 30 cm high x 18 cm wide x 15 cm deep
JLB received musical training at the Conservatory of Ghent after which he developed a career as a horn player, conductor, composer and teacher. At the same time, his interest as an autodidact went to artisanal forging, first to restore or manufacture all kinds of ironwork in the old way. Later he discovered the possibilities of creating sculptures. After a meeting and short internship with Martin Granel, he discovered the combination of glass with iron. JLB exhibits regularly at the Garemyn Hall in Bruges. His work has also been shown at the Vlask gallery in Ghent.
