Geometric minimization of the diptych sun and moon.
JLB works mostly with wrought iron sometimes combined with glass. But here he chose a diptych, cut yellow glass with a border of wrought iron.
Dimensions of 1 panel : 25 cm high x 15 cm wide x 10 cm deep
The 2 cm thick glass (albertini) was mass colored with natural oxides. The wrought iron edge received a coating that provided the brown-black sheen. The materials and the technique used by the artist completely blend into the result.
The main focus is on the interplay between the two objects that are connected and the resulting story. Here the square sun casts its shadow on the moon - triangle.
All the sculptures have a high cuddliness factor, but are so layered that the viewer almost immediately starts looking for the message and the relationship the viewer has with it....
Unique signed work from 2024 JLB received musical training at the Conservatory of Ghent after which he built a career as a horn player, conductor, composer and teacher. At the same time, his interest as a self-taught musician went to artisanal forging, first to restore or manufacture all kinds of ironwork in the old way. Later he discovered the possibilities of creating sculptures. After a meeting and short internship with Martin Granel, he discovered the combination of glass with iron. JLB exhibits regularly at the Garemyn Hall in Bruges. His work has also been shown at the Vlask gallery in Ghent.
