Product description
Jacques Dieteren was an introvert, his family tells us. Rarely was he really satisfied with his own work and allowed few outsiders into his studio. However, he did have a lot of contact with fellow artists. Together with some of them: Wim Claessen, Giel Clement, Ton Slits and Joop Vugs, he founded a foundation: Konrast '85. This was an intensive experimental cooperation project of five artists, in the former milk factory on the outskirts of Maastricht.
Jacques Dieteren exhibited at home and abroad, including in Maastricht, gallery Wanda Reiff, Trajecta, Sittard, gallery Zabawa, Michel Knops, Heerlen, Signe, in Alkmaar, Groningen, Amsterdam and regularly in Germany.
Striking in his work is the smooth handwriting, in which coincidences play a major role. Landscapes are the starting point in early work. In later works abstract and organic forms remain.
Jacques Dieteren was an artist with his whole being. The seemingly simple forms in his art are an expression of much deeper feelings, which in combination with colors he uses form a powerful whole. In 2002, Jacques Dieteren died at far too young an age, his career came to an abrupt end. The extraordinary works he leaves behind are a valuable reminder of an artist whose life was completely dedicated to art.
