Product description
János Bittenbinder (Transylvania, 1946) is a master of playing with light. He displays that unparalleled art also in this painting "Erdélyi lányok" (Hungarian for Transylvanian girls) in traditional costume. The base of the 1983 oil painting on canvas is blue-gray. From the upper left corner, a broad beam of light falls on three girls in Transylvanian costume, brightening the contrasting colors of yellow and red of the headscarves and bodices of the dress. Because the light is focused on only part of the girls, the scene takes on a mysterious character, inviting one to look at it again and again. Oil on canvas. Created 1983. Framed. Measures 97.6 cm. (w) x 77.5 cm. (h). Main colors blue-gray, yellow, red. Sales slip signed by Bittenbinder to original buyer (me).
No signs of use.
