Dimensions image woodcut: 18 x 23.8 cm. Paper dimensions: 25 x 30 cm Signed lower right in pencil, top with monogram. Jan Mankes entered art history as "Holland's most tranquil painter." A great Dutch Master Artist who unfortunately only lived to be 31. His entire oeuvre, created between 1907 and 1918, includes about 150 paintings, mostly on small formats, about 100 drawings and over 40 sheets of prints, mainly etchings and woodcuts. Jan Mankes entered art history as "Holland's most tranquil painter." He died young of tuberculosis, something that contributed to the myth surrounding his artistry.
