Product description
Inuit Ice Diver by Annie Arragutainaq, (1949, Sanikiluaq Canada) made of Argillite (a type of soapstone). It measures 28x10x4 cm (LxHxW). Marked on the bottom: The number 2429, this is an inventory number of the cooperative. The copyright sign with year 1975. The name of the maker in Inuktitut (a.k.a. triangle). The two characters translated: a.ni; so Annie. And an E number, a citizen service number, now controversial and in disuse. E9-169 belongs to: Annie Arragutainaq. She is an Inuit artist. Her work was also exhibited at the Winnipeg Art Gallery. The kingfisher (common loon) is the national bird of Canada and is depicted on the Canadian 1-dollar coin which is then called a loonie.
