Product description
Herman Brood (1946-2001) was a Dutch musician, artist, actor and author. In 1964 he went to art school in Arnhem and became a member of the local beat group The Moans. A few years later, Brood joined Cuby and the Blizzards. He was later kicked out of the band when the record company learned that he was using drugs. Unclear years followed during which Brood was regularly imprisoned for burglary and drug trafficking.
In 1974, Herman Brood resumed his musical career and played with various artists such as Vitesse, Jan Akkerman and the North Holland formation Stud. A few years later , Herman Brood founded his own band: Herman Brood & His Wild Romance.
In the late 1980s, Herman Brood 's career expanded and he acted in a play and a feature film and performed together with Bart Chabot and Jules Deelder. He also became increasingly active as an artist in the tradition of CoBrA. In large format, with thick black lines and bright colors. Brood mainly worked with paint rollers, spray cans and felt-tip pens. Texts and slogans can also often be found in his work. In 2001, the artist took his own life by jumping from the roof of the Hilton Hotel in Amsterdam.
