From an early age Henk Kuijpers liked to paint; however, only since suffering from a serious illness has he made it his profession. Kuijpers' main inspiration is the Greek landscape, which includes unfinished buildings. The pure lifestyle of the Greeks and nature that is constantly in motion appeal to him. By working little with contours, Kuijpers gives his landscapes a certain intangibility, a transparency. Consequently, he works on the basis of memories and fantasies. With the color combinations Kuijpers tries to achieve both intensity and harmony.
