Tough yet elegant hardwood table (Merbau and steel). Top of 3.00 m length, 1.12 m width and 7 cm thickness seems to float above the frame of steel and Merbau, see drawings and photo side view.
The table was designed in 1993 by architect ir R.J. Witteveen and built by BV Bouwbedrijf Ponjé. This construction company once made all the furniture for Dom van der Laan.
The construction is in very good condition, the table has not expanded or shrunk a mm since completion in 1993. However, the lacquer is discolored. In addition, there is a damage in the lacquer in the middle of the table, see photos. Given the thickness of the table top, it is no problem to sand and oil the table so that the table is flawless again.
