Antonie de Rooij (1963) born and raised in Nuenen comes from an artistic family. Great-grandfather Henri van Abbe was inspired by artists such as Jan Sluyters, Kees van Dongen and photographer Martien Coppens. They inspired the next generation of creative Van Abbe's including Olly, Marc and Karina de Rooij van Abbe. This creative umbrella laid a foundation for Antonie's development. In the de Rooij family, the roots go back to great-grandfather who started out as a blacksmith. Established in Nuenen making and selling bicycles, this became a garage business selling agricultural machinery and later commercial and passenger cars. This development translated into his professional career as a designer and co-owner of De Heeren van Vonder. At the same time, his artistic career developed in a completely natural way. Free work, as well as portraits of Queen Máxima, Epke Zonderland, Eric Albada Jelgersma, and many others. His works can now be found in collections of Jan des Bouvrie, KNVB management, van der Valk management, vanHaren management and many private collections.
