Vintage 1970s. Materials: Ceramic. Magnificent hand-painted Kutani sake set with gold decoration. Composed of a tray, 6 sake cups and a decanter or bottle with lid called 'tokkuri' in Japanese. This tokkuri is made of porcelain and hand-painted. It was made during the Showa period around 1970. It features elaborate gold paintings on the theme of the "Three Friends". A favorite subject of the literati, it brings together pine, plum blossom and bamboo. The three plants have been admired throughout Japanese history for their persistence and resistance to the cold.
