Hadewijch Ouwendijk is a Dutch artist. Hadewijch completed her artistic training in 1974 at the Royal Academy in The Hague, Graphic Arts/Free painting department. Since 1980 she has been active as an independent visual artist. She is a member of Galerie De Ploegh in Amersfoort www.deploegh.nl and Kunstenaarsvereniging ArtiShock in Rijswijk www.galerie-arti-shock.nl. Her main work involves color etchings and paintings which have been exhibited in various galleries. She has completed numerous commissions such as series of etchings for the municipalities of Dronten and Alphen aan de Rijn and Rijswijk, and murals, including for the Rabo bank Dronten. In 1997 he realized a large mural with a group of school children for the Municipality of Amersfoort: the Brouwer Tunnel Project. Ten years later in 2007 came a new commission for this: restoration and refreshing of the original drawings, and expansion with a new section because the tunnel had been extended. She collaborated in the production of art books and catalogs for companies and produced the millennium print for the municipality of Rijswijk. In 2013 she collaborated on the project "033-Leegstand in Amersfoort, the thematic exhibition for the preservation of the Rietveld Pavilion.
In 2015, in collaboration with the ISVW and the VVV, she realized the philosophers' path. For this she produced 8 etchings of 8 heads of philosophers, 4 of which are on the grounds of the ISVW and 4 in Den Treek. She works on various commissions for individuals and companies. She worked for 20 years in the studio at Muurhuizen 100 in Amersfoort and participated from the beginning in the then very well visited Kunstkijkroute. After finding a replacement studio in the outlying area near Maarsbergen for a period of 8 months in November 2018 (the building at Muurhuizen 100 is about to collapse), she has been working in her studio at Hellestraat 24 (entrance Torenstraat) in Amersfoort since June 1, 2019. Hadewijch's work is strongly inspired by bright images from her her immediate surroundings. Striking impressions and a vivid earthly outside world are often colored by a poetic world of feeling. In her earliest graphic work, this is expressed in her transparent landscapes. In addition to the often dreamy etchings created by experimenting with all sorts of variations and nuances offered by the etching technique, she paints directly with knife and oil on canvas.
